Fairfield Recap and Stats

Player Of The Weekend: A number of Panthers had a good week but Tony Meier really came through when it counted. His free throws with less than two seconds remaining won Tuesday’s game against Cleveland State and then he hit the clinching free throw in the win over Fairfield. He averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in the two wins, making 60 percent of his shots from the field.

Key Stat: Milwaukee fell back to 59 percent in its win over Fairfield, but the 33-of-40 UWM hit from the foul line against Cleveland State was incredibly important.

News and Notes: UWM played without James Haarsma, Ryan Haggerty and Christian Wolf Saturday, with all three players at home with the flu … that meant Kyle Kelm returned to the starting lineup … Kaylon Williams also did not start because of the flu, giving Shaquille Boga his first career start … the Panthers are now 2-8 in BracketBusters contests … Tony Meier has now been in double figures in four-straight games ... Paris Gulley had 17 points Tuesday and 18 more Saturday. The Panthers are 12-4 in games Gulley makes a three-pointer and 8-2 when he reaches double figures ... the Panthers are now 7-4 this season and 37-22 under Rob Jeter in games decided by five points or less … Haarsma hit five 3-pointers in the game against Cleveland State, a collegiate-high ... the Panthers hit 13 as a team, the eighth time this season they reached double figures in the category ... UWM has scored better than 80 points in three of its last five wins ... the Panthers have now made 84-of-116 from the line in the last five games.
