Game #23 – Milwaukee 54, Wright State 53
Player of the Game - Anthony Hill proved too much for the Wright State post group. Despite just 4-of-8 shooting from the field, Hill finished with a team-high 22 points, thanks to much-improved free throw shooting. He went 14-for-17 from the free throw line, keeping a number of Raiders in foul trouble for much of the game.
Turning Point - Trailing by two, Wright State had the ball, but Tone Boyle drew UWM's second-consecutive charge to get the ball back. After a 1-of-2 trip to the foul line, Boyle then came up with a steal on Wright State's next possession, getting to the free throw line to ice the game.
Stat That Mattered - Hill 14-for-17 at the free throw line. A 62.7 percent free throw shooter entering the game, Hill got to the line 17 times and converted 82.4 of those attempts. Every one of those free throws mattered, as the game was decided by just one point.
The Notebook - Milwaukee played its first game this season decided by one point .... the Panthers won for the first time when shooting below 40 percent this season (1-8) ... they had just one player in double-figures for the fourth time this season, but won for the first time ... one player has scored in double-figures in both regular season meetings with Wright State ... UWM beat Wright State for the 13th-straight time at home ... the Panthers now lead the all-time series, 23-20, with 15 wins in the last 22 meetings ... Milwaukee has now won three-straight games for the first time since mid-November ... Tone Boyle had a career-high 10 rebounds and missed his first double-double as a Panther by one point ... Hill's 14 free throws are tied for the seventh-most in a game in school history, while his 17 attempts are tied for eighth ... he also topped the 20-point mark for the third time this season ... Kaylon Williams had five assists in a game for the 14th time this season ... UWM’s Horizon League champion volleyball team was honored during the first half of the game ... the five-member class inducted into the Bud K. Haidet Athletics Hall of Fame were honored during the second half ... the induction banquet was earlier in the day.

Post-Game Wrap-Up: Milwaukee @ Butler
Game #20 –Butler 72, Milwaukee 64
Full game recap and stats here
Player of the Game - Angela Rodriguez. A-Rod capped her weekend with another strong shooting game. She was 6-of-7 from the field and 5-for-6 on three-pointers. She finished with a team-high 17 points. In two games, she averaged 16.5 points, was 12-for-14 (.857) from the field and 9-of-10 (.900) on three-pointers.
Turning Point - 4:14 remaining. UWM did not allow another Butler field goal as the game would get as close as seven points. The Panthers could not get over that hump as the Bulldogs went 10-for-14 from the free throw line over the rest of the game.
Stat That Mattered - 19-8 turnovers. The rest of the stats across the board favored Milwaukee. If the turnover discrepancy was smaller, the outcome could have been different.
The Notebook - Rodriguez’s 5-for-6 (.833) on threes is tied for the sixth-best single-game three-point percentage in school history … this was her fourth game with at least four made threes this season … she hit her first four of the game, giving her a streak of eight-straight made threes. I’ll have to do research to see if anyone has made more in a row … Rodriguez now has 40 threes this season, fifth-most by a freshman in a season in school history ... Lindsay Laur collected her eighth double-double of the season and the 22nd of her career … she made her only free throw attempt and has now made 24 consecutive free throws dating back to Jan. 8 … Laur also moved into sixth place on UWM’s all-time rebounding list with 688. She passed Marsha Housely (681).
Up Next - Milwaukee returns home to start the second half of the league season Thursday, hosting Youngstown State at 7 p.m.

Postgame Extra – Detroit at Milwaukee
Game #22 – Milwaukee 72, Detroit 67
Player of the Game - Tone Boyle had three 3-pointers in the first half that helped keep Milwaukee in the game, and the senior seemed to provide a calming influence while playing all 40 minutes of the contest. He also did a tremendous job defensively, drawing a pair of charges while collecting four steals.
Turning Point - Tony Meier’s back-to-back three-pointers with under five minutes to play were certainly huge. But, Ryan Allen came up with a tremendous block on one end and then scored in the paint on the other end to put Milwaukee ahead for good down the stretch.
Stat That Mattered - The Panthers have had their issues at the free throw line at times this season, but not on Friday night. UWM converted on 21-of-24 from the stripe, including a 6-of-6 effort in the final 40 seconds.
The Notebook - The Panthers have now recovered from a halftime deficit to win four times this season … Milwaukee won back-to-back games for the first time since the beginning of the month and will be looking for its first three-game winning streak since November on Sunday … UWM tied its season high with 20 turnovers … the Panthers, who entered the game shooting 62.4 percent from the line, made a season-best 21-of-24 from the foul stripe … Milwaukee’s 40 percent shooting was its worst in a win this season … the Panthers have now won 16 of their last 20 against Detroit … this was the second time in the last four years where UWM has overcome a double-digit deficit to beat Detroit in Milwaukee. In 2007-08, the Panthers trailed by 14 with 6:30 to play before rallying for the win … Kyle Kelm set a collegiate-high with nine points … Lonnie Boga and Jerard Ajami, each of whom missed the game against Butler with injuries, played off the bench Friday night. In fact, Ajami played 13 minutes and had three assists and four rebounds to go with two points … UWM’s Horizon League champion men’s swimming and diving team was honored during the second half of the game.
Up Next - UWM continues its three-game homestand by welcoming Wright State to the U.S. Cellular Arena for a Sunday afternoon contest.
