News And Notes On The Opening Weekend Of League Play

The Panthers have split their first two Horizon League contest after beating Youngstown State Friday night before falling to Cleveland State Saturday afternoon.

Here are the news and notes from the first weekend of league play.

Player of the Week
Rachel Neuberger, MB, Jr., Muskego, Wis. Neuberger had a pair of solid performances both offensively and defensively over the weekend. Friday vs. YSU, the junior tallied 16 kills and seven blocks while hitting .517. Then Saturday, Neuberger collected nine kills and a .304 hitting clip. Neuberger leads the team in both hitting percentage and blocks.

News and Notes
UWM’s loss to Cleveland State Saturday snapped a 26-match regular season league winning streak for the Panthers. It was also CSU’s first win over the Panthers in Milwaukee since 1992 … Julie Kolinske had another double-double in Friday’s win over Youngstown State, collecting 19 kills and 16 digs. She now has 13 in 16 matches this season … with Kayla Price out for the year with a hand injury, Hannah Blanchard made her first two career starts at setter over the weekend. She averaged nearly 11.5 assists per set and helped the Panthers hit .261 as a team ... Anna Bartz now has 810 career digs, keeping her on pace to pass 1,000 for her career … Bartz did pass double-figures in digs in both of the weekend matches, pushing her current string of double-figure outings to 12.
