A Great Debut

It would be hard for Matt Tiby to have posted a better individual Panther debut than he did Friday night at Loyola.

The sophomore junior-college transfer tallied 21 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists in the loss. It marked the best scoring debut by a Panther since Paige Paulsen tallied 27 points in the 2006-07 opener vs. Radford. It was also the last time a new player reached the 20-point mark in his debut since Tone Boyle scored 20 in the 2008-09 opener.

Finally, it marked the first time since the 2009-10 campaign that the Panthers had anyone score 20 or more in a season opener. That year, Ricky Franklin and James Eayrs each scored 20-plus in the first contest of the year.

Tiby talked to the media after the game.
