Game #21 – Milwaukee 86, Butler 80 (OT)
Player of the Game - Kaylon Williams had a great game against Butler the first time around and posted another stellar effort Sunday afternoon. Williams scored 16 points and had a collegiate-best 12 rebounds while adding six assists. He helped direct a Panther offense that shot 54.4 percent from the field.
Turning Point - With the Panthers up a point and 1:30 remaining in overtime, UWM used a timeout after claiming a tie-up on a loose ball with three seconds on the shot clock. The play drawn up got Tone Boyle a look at a three, and he buried it to give Milwaukee a four-point lead.
Stat That Mattered - UWM did a great job of getting the ball in the paint and it paid off. The Panthers scored 44 points in the paint and shot 29 free throws, providing a big boost to the overall 54.4 percent shooting effort.
The Notebook - UWM is the first team to sweep Butler in the regular season since the 2004-05 campaign … the Bulldogs also saw their 15-game regular season home league winning streak snapped … Milwaukee shot 54.4 percent in the win after shooting 55.3 percent in its first win over Butler … Kaylon Williams played 44 of the 45 minutes of the game while Tone Boyle played 42 of 45 minutes … Milwaukee attempted just 15 three-pointers, its fewest since trying just 14 at DePaul in mid-December … UWM is now 2-0 in overtime this season, with both of those wins coming on the road … this is the fifth time this season the Panthers have scored 80 or more points … Ryan Allen’s 10 points off the bench are his most since he scored 15 in a win over Niagara in November … Anthony Hill has now been in double figures in his last five games against Butler … Kyle Kelm’s eight points tied a collegiate high … Kaylon Williams has been in double figures on offense in six of the last seven games … his 12 rebounds were a collegiate-best … the Panthers played without Lonnie Boga (ankle) and Jerard Ajami (knee) … Tony Meier played through a severe case of the stomach flu.
