Post-Game Wrap-Up: Milwaukee @ #15/21 Green Bay
Game #18 –Green Bay 87, Milwaukee 39
Full game recap and stats here
Player of the Game - Sammy Theut. This was a rough game all around for Milwaukee. But, Theut looked her strongest since hurting her ankle against Wright State in the league opener. She played 15 minutes, finishing with 3 steals and a pair of offensive boards.
Turning Point - Early. UWM never got its offense on track and, after making it 8-5, conceded a 20-2 run. Milwaukee did not have multiple scoring possessions in a row without Green Bay scoring until well into the second half. Any time the Panthers scored, the Phoenix answered—usually with a run.
Stat That Mattered - Pick ‘em: 29 turnovers/22% shooting. Green Bay used its aggressiveness to disrupt the Panther offense from the opening tip. Those two stats combined to keep UWM with more turnovers than points for a big chunk of the game.
The Notebook - Milwaukee set a school record for fewest field goals made (9) and posted the third-worst shooting percentage in team history … the Panthers shot 22 percent in a game for the second time this season (South Dakota). Ironically, UWM is 1-1 in those games … their 39 points are a season-low.
Up Next - Milwaukee stays on the road, playing at Valparaiso Thursday.
