Player of the Game - Ashley Imperiale. In her third game back from an off-season shoulder injury, Imperiale scored 19 points, hitting 3-of-4 three’s and all four free throw tries. She had a number of key baskets for UWM, including converting a three-point play in overtime to give the Panthers the lead for good.
Turning Point - Imperiale’s 3-point play. She hit a layup to make it 79-78 with just over a minute remaining in overtime and drew contact. When she made the free throw, the Panthers had all the momentum they needed to hold on for the win.
Stat That Mattered - 8 turnovers after halftime. Once Milwaukee got control of the ball, there was seemingly no stopping it. The Panthers outscored the Flames, 55-42, after halftime.
The Notebook - UWM snapped a five-game losing streak in overtime games ... the team is 13-16 in Division I OT games … the Panthers also played in overtime Dec. 1 against Bradley … Angela Rodriguez and Lindsay Laur both scored at least 20 points for the second time this season, the first being that Bradley game … Laur passed Rachel Mickelson (1,152) and Nichole Drummond (1,153) to move up to ninth on UWM’s all-time scoring list with 1,160 points … her 7 assists were a career-high, as were her 3 blocks … the Panthers hit 10+ threes in a game for the third time this season.
Up Next - The Panthers will look to push their winning streak to three-straight Saturday, hosting Loyola at the Klotsche Center. UWM and the Ramblers tip off at 5 p.m. in a game that was originally scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be televised live on Time Warner Sports 32 in Milwaukee.
