The holidays are a time where there is space in the newspaper. Many times that space can be filled by feature stories - ones that are done in advance of the holidays but make for nice holiday reading.
Two from this weekend involved UWM basketball, and both appeared in the Dubuque (Iowa) Telegraph-Herald. The first is about Evan Richard, who is redshirting this season after a stellar career at Cuba City High School in southwest Wisconsin.

The other is about Joe Allen, who spent time in the UWM basketball program after returning from Iraq. Thanks to the help of Rob Jeter and the basketball staff, Joe has found a home on and off the court at UW-Platteville.
