Player Of The Game: Three players accounted for HUGE games, each in their own way. Angela Rodriguez netted 19 points and had 6 assists (to 1 turnover), making 5-of-8 shots from the floor and all 6 of her free throws. Avyanna Young was at it again with another double-double and Ashley Green stuffed the statsheet with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals.

Play of the Game: For me it actually happened early. Bre Warren's 3-pointer at the 1:00 mark of the first gave UWM its first lead of the day and helped them overcome that 11-point deficit in the first half. It seemed to give the team the positive energy it needed and the "know" of being able to pull the game out.
Key Stats: The Panthers won despite missing 15 shots in a row in the first half. They went 1-for-19 in a 10:20 stretch in the first when they fell behind 21-10. UWM came into the game averaging just 3.6 steals but had a season-best 13 today, previous season-high was just six.
News and Notes: Ashley Green became the first UWM player to have at least 5 steals in 52 games (Green vs. Seattle 2/1/12). The last UWM player with three-straight double-doubles was Sami Tucker in November of 2011. Young will go for 4 in a row next week at Green Bay. This was the first 20-point win since beating Chicago State in the season opener last year.

Postgame Report: Milwaukee vs. Illinois State

Player Of The Game: Sophomore Avyanna Young put on a show, scoring 18 points and tying her career-high with 16 rebounds. She seemed to be everywhere on the court and continues to improve each game in her sophomore season.

Play of the Game: Illinois State kept sticking around and, even after Milwaukee had built the lead to double-digits on numerous occasions, was still hanging around when UWM converted just 55 percent of its free throws down the stretch. The Redbirds trimmed the deficit to 7 at at 60-53, but Decorah buried her fifth three-pointer of the day that started a final 10-2 run to ice it.
Key Stats: The Panthers held Illinois State to just 30.6 percent shooting and 2 of 21 on three's. The great defense kept the point total to a season-low 58 for opponents and UWM won the rebounding battle for the first time in 6 games at 45-43. All keys to a big win.
News and Notes: The Panthers made 9 more three-pointers on the day, led by a season-high 5 in the game by Decorah. Angela Rodriguez continues her strong season in the assist column. She started the day leading the Horizon League at 6.0 per game and had 7 more today.

What A Difference A Year Makes
Milwaukee’s quick turnaround from 2012-13 until now has been highlighted by a number of tremendous individual improvements:
- Senior Kyle Kelm has upped his scoring average from 5.1 points per game a season ago to 13.2 points per contest this year. He is also shooting 61.5 percent from the floor this year after making only 41.0 percent of his shots in ‘12-’13.
- Sophomore Austin Arians is averaging 12.3 points per contest this year after averaging 6.6 points per game a season ago. He has also improved his game dramatically inside the arc. He made just 23 two-point shots all of last season but has already made 28 this year. Taken one step further, 74.7 percent of Arians’ shots came from three-point range a year ago, while this season 59.8 percent of his shots have come from beyond the arc.
- Senior Jordan Aaron was forced to take more than 23 percent of Milwaukee shots a season ago, but this year is taking less than 19 percent of its shots.
- Milwaukee’s two best newcomers - Steve McWhorter and Matt Tiby - have combined for 22.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. For comparison sake, UWM’s five-person senior class a year ago averaged 29.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per contest over 32 games.

Hagen Shows Off Her Talents
After continuing to produce at a tremendous level for her German club team Bayern Munich, former Milwaukee Panther women's soccer standout Sarah Hagen earned a call up to train with the U.S. Women's National Team.
While Hagen has demonstrated her talents on the field time and again, the former All-American had a little fun with her fellow national team trainees, showing off how much of the German language she's picked up in her time overseas.

Player Of The Game: It could go to either of the leading scorers for the Panthers, as both Emily Decorah and Avyanna Young had 15. But I will roll with Decorah, since it was her best game of the season to date after coming offf the injury. She played a season-high 27 minutes off the bench and looked her usual self from long-distance, canning 4-of-8 of her 3-point attempts.
Play of the Game: In a game like this, one key Hoosier scoring run essentially set the tone. When Milwaukee had cut the lead to 3 at 27-24, IU took a timeout and it made a huge difference. Coming back out of the TO, they went on a 17-4 run that essentially decided the outcome.
Key Stats: The Panthers shot a respectable 43.3 percent, but could not stop the Hoosiers, who connected on half of their shots (33-66) on the night. Freshman Larryn Brooks plays above her age level and went crazy from distance, burying 7 of her 9 attempts from 3-point range on her way to a game-high 27 points.
News and Notes: Young grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds to once again lead the squad. The potent UWM 3-point attack seems to be back in full swing, especially with a healthy Decorah on the court. After making 10-or-more 3's in a game just once in its first four games of the year, the Panthers have made 10, 11, 10, 9 and 10 3's the past five contests.
Up Next: It's back to Wisconsin Sunday and a return to the Klotsche Center for a crosstown showdown with Marquette. The televised contest gets underway at 1 p.m.

Player Of The Game: Angela Rodriguez was brilliant, tying her career high with 30 points. She came up with big shots all game long and finished 10-for-10 from the line for one of the best 100% performances on free throws in program history. But, Macie Dorow's effort cannot be overlooked either. She got the first start of the season, blwoing past her previous career-high of 7 points already by halftime (she has 12) and tying her career-best with 5 rebounds.

Play of the Game: There were a lot of key plays, but the biggest in my eyes was the 4 free throws shot by Sydney Snower in the final 79 seconds. UWM trailed by 1 the first time she was fouled and calmly made both to put UWM back ahead. She made two more with 11 seconds left that pushed the lead back to 3. Not only were those her only 4 attempts on the day, but those were her first four tries from the charity stripe on the season.
Key Stats: The Panthers shot a season-high 47.4 percent on the day and sank half of their 3's with 11 makes on 22 tries. The Pan Am Center was a good spot for UWM to find its long-range groove, making 11 today and 10 yesterday against Lamar.
News and Notes: Avyanna Young grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 10 points to record her second career double-double. The team technically grabbed a share of the weekend tournament crown as all 4 teams finished 1-1.
Up Next: It's back to Wisconsin tomorrow and a return to the Klotsche Center Wednesday for an early 11 a.m. tip.
