Good afternoon and welcome back to Clarksville, Tenn., for today's doubleheader at Raymond Hand Park.
Wish I had better news about playing conditions. We have already been pushed back an hour due to the rain and field conditions. We hopped on the bus at noon and when we got to the field, there was still a lake - yes, that much water - in center field. I told Doug Dekoning he should be wearing aqua socks when he heads out there...
Needless to say, it's wet and far from ideal, but hopefully we will get both games in today. The rain is done and from the looks of radar, will not be back until the overnight.
At this point, I do believe that we are still starting at 1 p.m.

WBB vs. Cleveland State - Horizon League Semifinals
The Panthers take on Cleveland State in the Horizon League Semifinals tonight in Green Bay. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. between the No. 7 Panthers and No. 3 Vikings.

UWM got here by defeating No. 10 Youngstown State in the First Round, 70-49, at the Klotsche Center. It then scored the last 11 points of regulation over the final 2:50 to defeat No. 2 Butler Wednesday in Indianapolis. Here is a link to the game story from the Butler... it was that exciting.
CSU got here by defeating No. 6 UIC in the quarterfinals Wednesday, flying into Milwaukee and bussing the rest of the way.

The winner of this game advances to the Horizon League Championship Sunday against the winner of Green Bay/Wright State. The Phoenix and Raiders tip off following this game at approximately 8 p.m. Sunday's game is scheduled for noon and will be televised live on ESPNU.

Well, we have arrived here at Raymond Hand Park and looks like we will get things started on time. Did not look that promising, as we arrived last night around 10:30 pm to temperatures in the upper-20's and 2 inches of snow on the ground.
Needless to say, not a great day and probably nicer in Milwaukee...

Opponents That Are NCAA Tourney Bound
With the win by Cleveland State over Butler in Tuesday night's Horizon League Championship game, the league will have two teams in the NCAA Tournament this season. Everyone seems to agree Butler is a lock for an at-large bid, while CSU will get the automatic bid.
What that also does is give the Panthers two more games this past year against an NCAA Tournament team, as well as put two more games on the schedule this coming season against an NCAA Tournament foe. That number also went up a little more when North Dakota State survived a sluggish first 35 minutes to pull out a win over Oakland in the Summit League championship game.
So, in all, UWM played seven games this season against NCAA Tourmament teams - assuming Marquette, Wisconsin and Butler all get bids as expected. The Panthers went 2-5 in those games, with wins over Butler and Cleveland State. Milwaukee will have those same seven games on the slate next season. Three will be road games during the non-league campaign, with trips to Wisconsin, Marquette and North Dakota State on the agenda. Plus, with the Panthers slated for the NIT Season Tip-Off, there is a good chance at least one more game against an NCAA qualifier will be added to the list.

Former Panthers Moving Up In Coaching World
Add Melissa David to the list of former Panther volleyball players who have spots on Division I coaching staffs.
David was named an assistant coach at Western Illinois last week. You can read the official release from Western Illinois here.
After finishing her career at UWM, David went home to Champaign to pursue a master's degree at Illinois and work as a volunteer assistant.
Other former Panthers in the collegiate coaching ranks include Trudy Vande Berg at Duke and Julie Yankus at Southern Illinois. Plus, Lindsey Vanden Berg is an assistant right here at UWM.
Also, former Panther assistants Matt Houk, Erik Olson and Ryan Theis are Division I head coaches. Houk, also a former Panther baseball player, is the head coach at South Dakota. Olson is the head coach at Central Michigan and Theis is the head coach at Ohio. Those two were both standout men's players at UWM before assisting with the women's team.
A number of other former Panthers are coaching in the high school ranks or with local club teams. We'll try to put together a complete list for this year's media guide.
