Yes, we still have a spring and a summer to get through, but the 2009 fall sports season is less than six months away. And, while the full volleyball schedule is not yet set, a few more things are starting to take shape.
The full Panther Invitational field is now set. Ohio State is the fifth team in the field, which also includes Marquette, Western Michigan and South Dakota. There will be four matches on Fri., Sept 11 and four more on Sat., Sept. 12. Ohio State and Marquette will also then play Sunday at the Al McGuire Center.
The field for the Magnolia Classic in Oxford, Miss., is also now set. UWM and the hosts from Ole Miss will be joined by Akron and UAB. UAB made the NCAA Tournament a season ago, and thus adds another difficult test to the Panthers' non-league schedule. UWM will also play at a season-opening tournament at Iowa State, with the host Cyclones and Arizona State both shaping up as big challenges for Milwaukee. The final team in that field has not yet been set.
Finally, UWM has put its spring schedule together. The Panthers will host a tournament March 28 and then play tournaments at Loyola (April 4) and Northwestern (April 11). Squeezed in there will be a single match against Marquette April 9 at the Klotsche Center.

Live Blog: WBB vs. Youngstown State - Horizon League First Round
The Live Blog for Women's Basketball is back. Tonight I will be courtside at the Klotsche Center when the Panthers take on Youngstown State in the Speedway Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship First Round. Tip off is schedule for 7 p.m.
Milwaukee is the 7th seed, whle the Penguins are 10th. The winner of this game advances to Wednesday's quarterfinals at No. 2 Butler. That game will tip off at 6 p.m. central time at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Live Blog: Baseball versus Eastern Illininois
Good morning and welcome back to the Cardinal Classic.
It's UWM's final day here in Louisville and will definitely be looking for a win before hopping on the bus for the drive back to Wisconsin.
It's the classic Panther v. Panther match-up today, with UWM coming in at 3-7 and EIU at 5-3 after falling 10-6 to Louisville in the third game of the day last night.
Line-ups should be in shortly. With the host Cards no longer playing today, looks to be a quiet day at the stadium. I am just hoping the forecast of rain stays away until we get done.

Looks like the forecast for tomorrow may play into the schedule, which may be changed.
I will keep you posted as I find out.
Milwaukee (3-5) will be taking on Eastern Illinois (4-2) in today's first game.
The starting line-up sees Gerhartz (2B), Kraft (SS), Wozniak (1B), Long (DH), Hoenecke (3B), Wegner (CF), Patzman (LF), Groves (C) and Andes (RF).
On the mound, freshman Kyle Schmidt, making his first career start.
EIU counters with Josh Mueller, 0-0 with a 4.70 ERA through 2 starts.

Live Blog: Horizon League Tournament Second Round - UWM vs. Wright State
We are in Indianapolis as the Speedway Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship continues with second round action tonight. The Panthers will face Wright State at 6 p.m. EST/5 p.m. CST, with the winner advancing to a Saturday contest with Butler.

The Panthers and Raiders split their two regular season meetings, with each team winning on its homecourt. Tuesday night in the first round, UWM handled Loyola while Wright State put together a late surge to advance past Valparaiso.
On the UWM front, there is not a ton of new news to report. The Panthers did go through a two-hour practice at Hinkle yesterday but then passed on the very early shootaround time today. So, it's been some film work, a scouting report and relaxation as UWM tries to advance to the semifinals.

Live Blog: UWM vs. Loyola - League Tournament First Round
March Madness has arrived as the Panthers get ready to open play in the Speedway Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship. UWM welcomes Loyola to the U.S. Cellular Arena for tonight's first round game.

UWM won both games between the two teams in the regular season, claiming each contest by 14 points. But, Loyola has shown it is capable of big wins, having beaten both Butler and Green Bay during the regular season.
